How To Assemble Your Office Chair

Chair Office

This chair is one of our mesh chairs, so some parts may differ in size and style from the chair you have ordered. We chose this chair because it requires more assembly than most of our other chairs, and acts as a good guide/example to show how easy even this is to put together.

1.) Unpack all items and lay them out, as you can see there isn’t much to it.

2.) Take the casters and push them into the 5 star base

3.) Place gas strut cover over gas strut

4.) Place the gas strut into 5 star base, it has a tapered fit - So when will become tighter once the chair is sat on.

5.) Fit chair back onto mechanism, it just slides in as shown below. The image below shows the chair back being held upside down to make it easier to slide onto the main chair mech (Mechanism). Bolt it together using the bolts supplied (Only 3 needed in example shown below)

6.) Now place the main chair mechanism (with the chair back attached) onto underside of seat, aligning the 4 bolt holes in the underside of the seat. Then bolt the mech, onto the seat as shown below.

7.) Slide the small paddle handles onto the silver levers sticking out of either side of the chair mech (You can see the silver paddle levers above)

8.) Attach armrests to underside of the chair, just slide them into the side and then turn the hand screw to tighten them up

9.) Place the chair onto the gas strut & 5 star base securely

10.) Lastly attach the headrest, and you're done

Simple as that! Most of our chairs are actually easier than this to assemble. But if you still don't want to assemble them yourself, then give us a call and we'll assemble them for you!

New Range of Vinyl Chairs Now In

Chair Office

We’ve been at it again – updating our store to bring you, our customer, simply the best selection of office chairs and utility chairs online. The newest addition to the store is a modest number that goes by the name of Stackable Vinyl Conference Chair. But don’t let the name deceive you – although this utility chair is perfect for conferences, thanks to its low price, space-saving stackable design and padded seat for extra comfort, it is also a great option for community centres, hospitals and care homes too.

That’s because the vinyl seat covering is easy to wipe clean with antibacterial agents and strong disinfectants, and will repel stains and spillages that could otherwise shorten the chair’s ‘lifespan’. The vinyl visitors chair can be used in receptions or waiting rooms in practices and salons, as extra seating in care home rooms and communal areas, and is suitable for frequent use. The chair stacks approximately 10 chairs high, so is perfect for use in facilities where storage space is limited.

To find out more about our new stackable chairs and the discounts we might be able to offer on large volume orders, give the Chair Office sales team a call on 0845 838 3616 today.

Chair Office

Here at Chair Office, we’ve been busier than usual recently, adding a number of executive mesh office chairs to our online store. But one mesh chair that we’re particularly excited about is the addition of the slightly exotic McCoy Mesh Back Chair, which we’re treating as somewhat of a rare specimen – a white mesh office chair.

As you’re more than likely aware, the mesh office chair market is dominated with black designs, as is our online catalogue. And although there are some truly sleek and stylish options available in black, we are very excited to unveil the McCoy to our customers as it offers a completely new design alternative for contemporary office spaces.

With a recommended retail price of £155.00, Chair Office are offering the McCoy white mesh office chair for just £75.99 (ex VAT).
Asynchro Mesh Back Executive Chair – with one of the lowest prices on the web of £110.99, the Asynchro Mesh Back is practically sailing out of the warehouse at a rate of knots! And then there’s the multitude of adjustable features – adjustable lumbar support, a fully adjustable headrest and height adjustable upholstered armrests, plus a heavy-duty lockable tilt mechanism too.

Scott Mesh Back Chair – The Scott is one of the latest chairs from a new line on Chair Office, which has done remarkably well in its first week.
Keep Sweat Free This Summer with a Mesh Office Chair

Chair Office

OK, we admit, summer in the UK isn’t all about blue skies and that big burning ball of fire in the sky. But then again, we all have experienced those endlessly hot and sultry days of summer, where working in the office even with air conditioning (or, that old school invention known as the open window)feels like some sort of bizarre endurance test.

We’ve all been there – you lull slumped at your desk, red-faced with a sticky-back, fighting through the relentless heat and haze that permeates every corner of the office building. You feel like you should be sprawled out under a shady tree in the park, or lying down in front of a fan, or lazily wafting around on an animal-shaped inflatable in a swimming pool somewhere... anywhere but your hot, stuffy office.

But you know, it doesn’t always have to feel like that. Here at Chair Office, we offer a range of mesh office chairs to help you say goodbye to those summertime sweats! The mesh fabric is not only wholly supportive, but also allows for improved air circulation, helping to keep you cool and comfortable even on the most stifling and humid of summer days.

Not sure where to start? Here are a few of our mesh office chair best sellers for you to consider:

The Icon Mesh Office Chair – currently priced at just £49.95, the Icon is from our budget mesh chair range, with real value for money. The Icon includes a number of design features to promote a healthy seating position, including the generously proportioned cold cure moulded foam seat, pronounced waterfool front on the seat and durable armrests.

Lapella Luxury Mesh Back Office Chair – one of our more prestigious executive mesh office chairs with a number of ergonomic features, including breathable mesh-sprung seat, padded height adjustable armrests, multi-adjustable and removable headrest as well as weight tension control and gas lift height adjustments. In short, you can make the Lapella a ‘perfect fit’, with the mesh seat and back helping to promote healthy circulation. Currently priced at £179.99

Ergonomic Full Mesh with Leather Headrest – with an RRP of £449.99, and a current Chair Office price of £199.99, it’s no wonder that the Ergonomic Full Mesh is popular with our customers.
Caring for Your Leather Office Chair

Chair Office

If you’re thinking of purchasing one of our leather office chairs, then you’ll probably find our 5 care and maintenance tips for your leather office chair quite useful!

Even if you’re purchasing a faux leather office chair, exercising these simple techniques will help to retain the ‘as new’ appearance of the chair, and prolong its life in tip-top condition.

5 Quick Care and Maintenance Tips for Your Leather Office Chair

1. Keep it away from sunlight!

If there’s one thing that will damage your leather office chair (aside from the obvious destructive properties of fire, corrosive acids, big knives and 007 Bond-style laser beams), it’s sunlight. Exposure to UV rays for prolonged periods will fade and prematurely ‘age’ the material, leading to degradation and discolouration. Your best bet is to keep your leather office chair away from bright lights and windows.

2. Keep it away from heat!

As with light, heat is another ‘element’ that can have a degrading effect on real and faux leather. Heat sources, such as sunlight in summer, radiators, portable heater fans and the heat dispelled by some electrical devices, can dry out the leather material, leaving it cracked, discoloured and in some cases, flaky. The solution is, of course, obvious – simply keep your office chair away from heat sources and you’ll be able to keep it looking as good as new for longer!

3. Clean Your Leather Office Regularly

If you want to preserve the great condition of your leather office chair, then you need to put in a little work. Regular cleaning with a dustpan and brush, or brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner will help to remove grit and dust that often collects between the arms and seat pan, as well as between the stitching and other nooks and crannies. Dust and grit might sound innocuous, but over time it can ingrain itself into the material, leaving it looking dirty, shabby and worn out.

4. Deep Clean and Condition

A thorough clean and condition of your leather office chair is required less often, but by no means less important than a regular vacuum or brush clean. For this, you’ll need a product specific to the chair’s leather type and any protective finishes on your chair. Our best advice here is to check with the manufacturer, who may recommend the best products for a thorough clean and conditioning for your particular chair.

5. Check Where You Sit

Like human skin, leather and faux leather can be scuffed, scraped and cut. That’s why you need to careful when you sit on your leather office chair – keys in pockets, decorative buttons and pens are just some examples of items that can cause small scuff marks or scratches in the leather material.

Orthopaedic Chairs - A Worthy Investment

Chair Office

We know that healthy worker is a happy worker... and a happy worker makes for a much more productive worker. But with almost two thirds of us computer worker types not working in a completely comfortable environment – think eye strain, back pain and sore muscles at the end of a working day – it seems as though the majority of our nation’s desk-bound work force need assistance in the comfort department.

But it needn’t be that way.

After all, with most of us now spending on average around 7 hours a day at our desks, and unhealthy postures and working conditions accounting for literally millions of lost working days per year, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t invest in an ergonomic office chair.

At Chair Office, we recognise the importance of healthy working postures, which is why we’re constantly reviewing and adding to our comprehensive range of ergonomic office chairs. In fact, we’ve just added some more outstanding specimens to our online catalogue, a new range of chiropractor-approved ergonomic chairs perfect for those who tend to suffer with chronic back pain, and which include:

The Hercules Operator Chair – a medium-back operator chair designed to offer vital support and hours of comfort. Available in blue or black fabric.

The Chiro High Back – a generously padded high-back orthopaedic chair with a multitude of adjustable features, ideal for heavy usage, Also available in blue or black fabric.

Up to Standard

If you’re investing in ergonomic chairs, you want to know that they’re built to last, right? With our latest additions, we don’t just offer our own guarantees - both the Hercules and Chiro High Back are certified to British Standard EN 5459, which means officially they’ve passed a series of tests that prove their suitability for heavy (24 hour) usage in the office – particularly handy if there’s a lot of hot desking or non-stop staff shifts in your organisation.

Officially Endorsed

If that wasn’t enough to convince you of the merits of the Hercules and Chiro High Back and our other ergonomic office chairs, then there’s more. All of our new models have also received copyright protected approval from a UK Chiropractic doctor, and include the following ergonomic features:

Pump-up lumbar support – adjustable to your shape and needs

Ratchet back for adjustable back height

A 3 lever mechanism to help you adjust the back and seat to find the perfect working posture

New Season, New Office Desk Product!

Chair Office

Here at Chair Office HQ, spring has definitely sprung. So to celebrate the beginning of a new season of sunshine, we’ve made a stunning addition to our office desk collection – the Lucido bench desk range.

The Lucido bench desk is the latest cost-efficient innovation that we have on offer. Despite the clean lines and cool, minimalist styling, the Lucido is actually a modular desking system with an integrated cable management beam – a perfect solution if you’re keen to keep your office looking neat and functioning efficiently.

One of the great aspects of the Lucido bench is a small but significant design characteristic. Each set of bench legs are inset, meaning that they don’t interfere with seating configurations and placement of equipment, making office layouts and staffing much more flexible. The virtually seamless desktops provide a continuous work surface, and together with the inset legs allow for desking arrangements that are no longer restricted to one person per desk, but rather an altogether more adaptable working environment.

If good looks are your priority, then the Lucido delivers on this front too – we currently offer the Lucido in a range of base and desk top colours that come with a 10 year manufacturer’s guarantee. Take your pick from Oak, Beech, Maple, Grey, White and ‘Zebrano’, a beautifully contrasting grained wood effect finish.

And how’s this for optimum organisation – the integrated cable trays feature flip-tops for easy access to the three channelled trays for power, data and telecommunication cables. Keeping them hidden from view and out of reach means that unsightly and haphazard ‘under-desk cable spaghetti’ becomes a thing of the past!

It’s also worth noting that at Chair Office, we also offer the Lucido beam desking system. Each Lucido Beam desk includes the intelligent cable management as standard, as well as the range of elegant styling options and 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee. But instead of the tapered recessed leg design inherent to the Lucido Bench, the Lucido Beam features cantilever legs and an interlocking beam system that allows for up to five different modular components. Spoiled for choice? You bet you are!

You can find out more about our new Lucido office desk range here by visiting the link, or by calling our friendly sales team on 0845 838 3616.

Chair Office Introduces New Range of Endorsed Ergonomic Chairs

Chair Office

It’s estimated that around 90% of modern jobs now involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. But it’s also estimated that up to 60% of computer operators could actually benefit from adjustments to their working environments to help reduce the risk of musculo-skeletal aches and pains, tired eyes, headaches, and RSI injuries that arise as a result of extensive periods at the computer.

This is why the Government has stipulated that all employers must carry out a DSE Assessment (Display Screen Equipment) on all employees. Often just a few small adjustments can dramatically reduce the risk of damage, injury and mobility issues.

Back pain is one of the most common complaints from computer operators, due to poor posture. To achieve a healthy sitting posture, the spine should be in its natural ‘S’ shape, supported in the lumbar region to help retain this shape. An ergonomic office chair is designed to help keep the spine, joints and muscles in their optimum positions, relieving any tension and strain and promoting circulation and respiration. The mesh material has the added benefit of promoting air circulation as well as full back support, keeping workers cool and comfortable throughout the day.

New Range of Ergonomic Office Chairs

Here at Chair Office, we’ve introduced a new range of multifunctional executive ergonomic office chairs to encourage a healthy working environment – and for good reason we’re really excited about this new range!

Our new ‘Wave’ collection is not only the epitome of cool and contemporary design, but also has a multitude of functions that make each model in the range a must-have chair for your office. Once look at the product specs clearly illustrates why - for instance, our ‘Wave’ ergonomic chairs are not only suitable for 24/7 use, but thanks to each chair’s range of ergonomic features, they have also been Chiropractor endorsed. Ergonomic features across the ‘Wave’ range include:

Optional additional headrests that can be retro-fitted

Adjustable back height and lumbar support

Adjustable seat height

Synchronised seat slide mechanism

Adjustable, pivoting padded armrests

Quite simply, if you’re sat in a Wave ergonomic chair, you can’t get much more comfortable at your desk .

Chair Office customers won’t be short of choice either, with a combination of mesh, air mesh and leather materials to choose from:

Wave Ergonomic Full Mesh

Chiro Ergo Comfort Full

Wave Ergonomic Mesh Back Leather Seat

Each model that we offer has been certified BS EN5459, guaranteeing its suitability for heavy usage and for persons weighing up to 23½ stones (150kg). Still not convinced? Then consider that each ‘Wave’ chair also comes with a 5 year guarantee on the moving parts, as well as a 2 year guarantee on the upholstery, giving our customers extra peace of mind about their purchase.

Ever Considered An Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair?

Chair Office

When it comes to office furniture, ergonomics is a word that often pops up in product descriptions and selling features. But what exactly are ergonomic features, and how do they help improve our day-to-day working lives?

Let’s start by defining ergonomics. Broadly speaking, ergonomics is a branch of science and engineering that helps to ‘fit’ and adapt a person’s technological tools and working environment to suit their capabilities and their work tasks. In the UK, there is an onus on employers to ensure that their employees are working in a safe and healthy environment – a regular workplace assessment that includes many ergonomic checks!

In terms of office furniture, physical ergonomics helps to eliminate illness or injury acquired from working in a certain way. There are many ergonomic desks and ergonomic office chairs in the market, but how can you be sure you’re purchasing a bona fide ergonomic piece of furniture?

The key to finding a truly ergonomic chair is to look for a host of product features that support and promote a healthy working posture. That’s why atChairOffice, we’ve done the hard work for you. We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into providing our customers with a broad range of ergonomic mesh office chairs with a multitude of adjustable features, including:

Seat height adjustment – adjustable seat height helps to improve your posture, as well as aligning your head and eyes at the correct height with your computer screen, thereby reducing tension in the neck.

Head rest adjustment – to help support the back of the head and upper neck, reducing stress and tension in the neck, shoulders and upper torso.

Back adjustment – many of our chairs features back height adjustments. This important feature helps individuals to find their optimum chair back height, aligning the curve in the chair with the curve in their spine, therefore increasing comfort and support.

Adjustable lumbar support – additional lumbar support increases support in the back, helping muscles to relax and work at the correct height and angle.

Adjustable seat arms –important for those that work at a computer for several hours a day, adjustable arms help to correct arm height, thus reducing tension in the upper body, and relaxing shoulders, which are particularly prone to chronic tension-related pain.

Sliding Seat Pan – this attribute is a nifty ergonomic feature that helps the chair user to adjust the seat pain forwards or backwards, in order to achieve optimum sitting posture.

Adjusting your work station and office furniture will help to increase work productivity, alertness and has scores of overall health benefits, such as healthy circulation, Ergonomic mesh chairs also help to reduce chronic pains and injuries associated with working at a desk – so you can say goodbye to those tense, painful shoulders, neck ache, headaches, sore back and even RSI.

Need more help choosing the best ergonomic mesh office chair to suit your needs or your budget? Then why not call our dedicated sales line on 0845 838 3616 and we’ll be happy to help.

Organise Your Life With A Computer Workstation Desk

Chair Office

Unless you’re a fastidious, ultra-organised superhero, the chances are that at some point in your working life, you’ve experienced a spot of ‘Organised Chaos syndrome’.

You know the scene – over a matter of weeks your workstation desk has slowly disappeared under a mound of ‘filing’ (precariously piled documents, lists, invoices, shopping lists etc). Your keyboard perpetually rests on a coffee-stained ‘To Do’ list. The back of your desk is home to what appears to be at least twenty dusty electrical leads, supposedly powering the multitude of computer components, electrical devices and gadgeting wizardry (although there’s usually at least 5 cables that seem to disappear into the abyss) on your desk.

The stationery ‘organiser’ is crammed full of pens without lids, copper coins, dried out highlighter pens, a staple-less stapler and, somewhere amongst it all, is your wireless mouse. But thanks to a spattering of luminous pink sticky notes, you know exactly where everything is.

“Well, almost... not really” you eventually find yourself thinking.

The average worker, whether working in an office or at home, spends a lot of time at their workstation. And regardless of whether you believe in Feng Shui, organisational efficiency or chaos theory, there’s something to be said about the affect of basic working conditions and resulting productivity. Working in a streamlined, organised, uncluttered and efficient environment directly influences the way you work, and the way you feel about your work. And it all starts with how you organise your workstation.

We’re not talking about ergonomics – no, it’s simpler than that. We’re talking workstation desks. The right workstation desk will give you enough space to place and organise your computer equipment, provide you with ample space for filing and storage, as well as room to work comfortably and efficiently, with everything in reach. In short, the right workstation desk can increase your efficiency and productivity by giving you the space and tools to organise yourself effectively.

Our recently expanded range of workstation furniture does just this. Whether you’re after a home workstation desk, or need to update your office at work, the chances are we’ve got something to fit your requirements. We supply workstation & office furniture in a variety of styles and materials to suit all manner of interior schemes and budgets, from a range of wood veneers to minimalist, contemporary glass workstations and high spec foil finishes.

If you’ve held off from your reorganisation efforts due to a limited budget, then hold off no longer! Chair Office’s new workstation additions include a range of budget workstation desks, with all desks priced up to 60% below recommended retail prices.

New Restaurant Furniture Section - Fast Food Seating

Chair Office

Despite our name, we supply much more than just office chairs and office furniture. Over the past 18 months, we’ve gradually expanded the Chair Office empire to include a variety of new contract furniture products. The latest addition to the Chair Office family is our range of restaurant seating, which can be found under the new ‘Fast Food Seating’ section of the site.

As ever, we’ve strived to keep our prices as competitive as possible, marking our restaurant seating significantly below the recommended retail prices. Our Fast Food Seating range includes modular units, bistro chairs, and stackable cafe seating.

The majority of our fast food seating consists of the modular booth seating units. These units are suitable for use in canteens, cafes and food halls, where space is often at a premium, and cover numbers and turnover is high. The seats are covered in a durable Camira contract fabrics, which come with a 10 year guarantee based on an 8 hour usage.

Here’s some more general (but useful!) information about our modular fast food seating range:

Frames consist of welded 12 gauge 50mm x 50mm steel box sections

Frames can be powder coated to order

Table tops available include MDF bull-nose, laminate faced and edged, GRP edge with an extensive range of laminates.

What’s more, the fast food seating units are flexible. The units are constructed by bolting the seats to subframes, which allow for easy maintenance, as well as future updates and additions. But that=s not all – the modular units can be designed and configured to suit any room layout and the cover numbers as required. The fast food seating modular units can be delivered assembled if required, and once in situ can easily be bolted into place.

Simple, easy and efficient – just the way we like it! To view our Fast Food Seating range, visit http://www.chairoffice.co.uk/cat/79/fast-food-seating.aspx

Chair Office Launch Brand New Site

Chair Office

If you’re a returning customer, you may have noticed that Chair Office has undergone a recent transformation. We like to think we’re a little bit epochal, which is why we decided that the time was right to unveil a never, fresher and more modern Chair Office branding to reflect our ongoing success.

Despite being one of the UK’s leading office furniture sites, we’re always thinking about how we can improve our product range and services for our customers. That’s why, in addition to our rebranding and increased product range, we’ve also updated and improved the usability of the site with a number of new practical features.

So what’s new?

First and foremost, we’ve expanded the Chair Office range. Recent additions include a new category of Fast Food Seating suitable for cafes, bistros, canteens and restaurants. We’ve also expanded upon our School Desking, Home Workstation and Bar Stool ranges, offering our customers and even bigger choice of affordable contract furniture.

To make life easier for our customers, we’ve introduced a new product filtering system. Product searches can now be filtered not only based on price, but other product attributes, such as chair colour, desk shape or wood veneer colour.

If you’re the kind of person that likes to thoroughly research all of your options and compare products, then we have a useful little addition to satisfy your needs. You can now flit between your current view and recently viewed products with just the click of a mouse, thanks to our new Recently Viewed Products navigation bar.

Got a question? Then check our new ‘FAQ’s section. If you still can’t find the answer you need, then don’t hesitate to call our friendly sales line on 0845 838 3616 – what we don’t know about contract furniture isn’t worth knowing!

What Hasn’t Changed?

We know what works, and we like to abide by the old adage ‘if it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it’. This is why we’ve kept the best bits from the former Chair Office website, most notably our commitment to competitive pricing. We’ve also kept our range of secure payment options, and our outstanding customer support service, too.
Like what you see? Then let us know!

Kneeling Chairs – Why Do They Work?

Chair Office

If you’ve never tried sitting in a kneeling chair, you might find it a strange concept; after all, most seats are based around the same principle of sitting ‘comfortably’ on your backside, and supporting your back. That’s how we should sit, because that’s the way we’ve learned to sit, right?

Not necessarily!

As infants, we learn to sit up with our legs spread and our hips rotated outwards. As we develop, we then learn to crawl, we walk and we move. We were designed to keep moving, but as adults, a large proportion of the population have found themselves desk-bound, working long hours in a seated position, performing repetitive tasks. Whilst many chairs incorporate the few ergonomic principles, and regular breaks are encouraged, for some, working at a desk is a constant challenge in managing head, neck, shoulder and arm complaints. This is where kneeling chairs come into play.

The first good posture kneeling chair was developed in the 1970s, and today is typified by a chair that consists of a seat and knee or shin padding that allows the thighs to tilt forward by around 60 to 70 degrees from vertical. The term ‘kneeling chair’ can be a little misleading – the chair could also be described as a ‘backless’ chair that encourages a more of an open body angle, and natural line of balance and posture throughout the body. The balance line, which runs from the ear, through the shoulder and hips and into the ankle creates ‘dynamic movement’.

With an office kneeling chair, the knees do NOT bear most of the body’s weight – the shin pads’ function is centred on stability and support, with shins bearing a little weight, but the majority of the weight actually rests in the buttocks and upper thighs. So in effect, the body’s posture remains ‘seated’, rather than ‘kneeling’.

The ergonomic kneeling chair will, in most cases, help to improve posture and ultimately comfort, when sitting at a desk. But the real key to working comfortably, and reducing or eliminating any musculoskeletal stresses or injury is frequency and variance of movement. By choosing the right chair, taking regular breaks, and ensuring that your movements are supported, free, and non-repetitive, will all help to ensure that your working day is pain-free.

A Computer Workstation and Other Space Saving Solutions for Your Home Office

Chair Office

Regardless of whether you’re a remote worker, running a business from home, or just have a space for the computer and the kids to do their homework, the fact is that your home office needs to be a tidy, organised space. In the average British house, the home office or study is typically a relatively small room where space is at a premium. It might be the case that your ‘home office’ is, in fact, a small area or corner of a lounge or dining room. This is why finding the right computer workstation for your needs is essential if you want to keep things in order!

A computer workstation desk should satisfy a few elements. Firstly, it needs to have the capacity to provide a suitable working area for you, your computer, a keyboard and a mouse. Many of our simplest and most competitively priced workstation desks, such as the Bench Stylish Modern Glass Workstation features a simple but important space-saving solution, the pull-out keyboard shelf.

Where your computer set up is more comprehensive – for instance, you need extra room for a printer, scanner or tower unit – you need to start looking at shelving. Shelving is one of the most simple but effective best ways to save space, and is especially useful when featured in a computer workstation, where files, media such as CDs and DVDs, and computer office supplies could otherwise quickly clutter up the room. Another great space saving tip is to buy a shredder – this will help to avoid accumulating piles of paperwork whilst helping to keep personal information safeguarded.

Another element that should be considered is style. You might wish to opt for function over form, or you may simply want your computer workstation to match the existing interior design for your home. A wooden computer desk or workstation is a popular choice for this very reason, as they’re usually the easiest style of workstation desks to integrate into a family home environment. Some may also feature cupboard doors, to hide away the clutter that can accumulate around a home computer, such as stationary, devices, ports, hubs and cables. You may also find that a computer desk workstation with desk grommets (holes through which you can feed cables) also gives you the flexibility to situate your home computer in the most appropriate point of the room, whilst keeping unsightly leads out of sight.

For more minimalist design interiors, simple but stylish workstations such as our Eames Home Desking is a fantastic solution – as a corner unit with plenty of storage for equipment and different media, it offers a significant working area, but tucks neatly away on the outer edges of a room. Opting for this mode of smooth, minimalist design is also a great motivator when it comes to keeping your home office orderly and neat!

Using Heavy Duty Office Chairs at Work

Chair Office

When it comes to office furniture, does it really have to be a battle between form and functionality? Who says that you can not have both? Gone are the days when heavy duty office furniture meant solid, heavyset wooden pieces with intricate gargoyle like carvings and seat cushions with just as much padding as a pancake run over by a concrete paving machine. Fortunately, there are now solidly made furniture that are both ergonomically designed and built for long term use. A very good example would be the numerous heavy duty office chairs coming out every season. Although most of them are still relatively bulky (as compared to flimsy looking counterparts,) they do get better mileage.

For one thing, heavy duty office chairs are quite comfortable for people who have larger builds. As most of you would know, there really is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all category, especially with chairs and most other seating pieces (like benches, couches, ottomans, sofas, stools, etc.) There are just some pieces that seem to fit people with zero gravity and just about the same dress size. Fortunately, heavy duty office chairs now have the support systems with the capacity to sustain heavier weights. The support systems for some office chairs can be fantastic. They can literally make sitting for long hours at a time easier on the back and the hind quarters, no matter what how lean or heavy you might become.

This is particularly great if you have to be stuck in that same chair for more than 8 hours at a time, (overtime and breaks not included, of course.) And since most office furniture chairs that are coming out now are ergonomically designed, these larger chairs can be moved about the room with ease. Speaking of designs, most of these chair pieces are leaning towards the modern but comfortable look. So you do not have to worry about chipping the gargoyle carvings off, or ruining the varnish in case you are prone to coffee spills in the morning.

Some of these chairs will definitely not win the artsy award for futuristic design. However, with comfortable padding and easier maneuverability, they can win candy-and-potato-chip awards from the happy office employee who once had to settle for straight back dinner wooden chairs behind those bulky office tables.

Admittedly, some heavy duty furniture pieces are rather on the expensive side of the price catalogue, they do get better mileage than the cheaper alternatives. Naturally, cheaper alternatives need constant replacing. Some of the en vogue signature designs usually go out of fashion very quickly. And if you are promoting a certain look for your company, you would want to be stuck with a furniture faux pas. Besides, if you have not noticed, some of those mass produced mono-block pieces have all the elegance of a backyard barbeque party. Additionally, with all the wear and tear of daily use of most office furniture, it would be a bit more sensible to invest in expensive but heavy duty pieces. At least, with such pieces, you know that you are really getting value for your money.

Spice Up Your Office With Designer Office Chairs

Chair Office

The one look that most offices are going for these days is the dynamic look. This gives the feeling of both comfort and proficiency in a particular space. It affords the people who are working and visiting the said space that feeling of a great environment to be in. This kind of look benefits both sides of the fence. For office employees, the dynamic look gives a sense of comfort, which is important if you have to be stuck in that same spot for more than 8 hours per day. For visitors, it is both inviting and interesting to see how the office employees interact to get the job done. If you were a potential customer visiting the said office, you will inadvertently judge how business is conducted by the dynamism that flows within that office.

You can actually see dynamism in the now vibrant office wall colors, the breezy atmosphere between work stations and the more modern furniture designs. Naturally, furniture pieces play a vital role in promoting and improving the dynamism in your office. If you are thinking of an office look revamp on your own, but you are particularly hesitant about spending too much money too soon, you might want to start by simply changing the furniture you have. You can literally spice up your office space with a few tweaks on the usual chairs and tables. Throw out those ugly mono-bloc chairs and tables. Return those straight back dinner chairs to wherever dinner table you got them from. If you are using both dinner chairs and dinner table for your conferences, you may want to ditch these out as well.

Investing in a few key signature or designer chairs may help improve your office a lot. Instead of those standard fiberglass benches in the reception area, you could invest in a designer couches or entire sofa sets. The world “ designer” need not be such a great concern. There are designer sets that are usually on sale from one online store or another. You can easily find both a bargain and a wonderful set that will complement your intended space. By simply making the reception area more inviting, you can actually help increase foot traffic to your business.

As for your actual work space, (and maybe even your conference room,) you may want to buy a set of mesh chairs for you and your colleagues. Mesh office chairs are now en vogue, so you can actually find a supplier who can give you a lot of designs to choose from, at a price range you will be happy with. Most designer office chairs and mesh chairs these days are ergonomically designed, so comfort will be an added guarantee always.

However, the best thing about having a set of matching designer or mesh chairs in your office space is the look of dynamism it provides. Inexplicably, having these furniture pieces gives workers the additional incentive to work harder (a great chair always enhances a person’ s performance.) At the same time, visitors to your office will actually see that you are improving your work area and improvement usually means progress. You just may land better deals and more customers in the long run.

Are Your Home Based Office Chairs Up To Much?

Chair Office

With over 20 million USA and 3 million UK workers earning a living from the comfort of the home-based office, an ever-increasing amount of the world's daily business is being transacted by professionals in pajamas and slippers. Nothing could be better for improving humane working conditions, surely, but it's a circumstance that gives rise to real panic when inevitable face-to-face meetings come up with important colleagues and clients.

Go ahead and admit it: your home-based office has more in common with a bird's nest than a boardroom suite. Worst of all, your office chairs and visitor chairs hail from the garage - you dragged them into the house once upon a time just to have something to sit on. To say the least, your office chairs lack executive style!

Self-esteem and salary go hand in hand in today's entrepreneurial home-based business environment. The more seriously you take yourself, the more confident you will be in commanding big figures for your expertise. The more seriously you take your office, the better your clients will feel about signing that big contract on the desk between you. Don't let working from home become your excuse for letting yourself and your office go to the dogs. Make this the year you toss out the rusty folding chairs and bring in the elegant office chairs and visitor chairs that say, " take a seat and take me seriously."

Nothing says, " I'm worth it," like a classic leather office chair. Comb your hair, put on that gorgeous silk tie and sit down to face your clients knowing your image is one of quality. Leather office chairs exude the very virtues home-based professionals strive to convey to the public: strength, solidity and superior service. And, nothing says, " you're worth it" to potential clients like luxurious leather visitor chairs. Treating a new client like royalty begins with giving them a considerate place to sit when they walk in the door. Your choice of visitor chairs can mean the difference between a client who really settles in to listen to your pitch or who is squirming to get away.

Perhaps most importantly, a well-made office chair won't just have you sitting pretty while you work, but will have you sitting comfortably! Poorly designed office chairs put needless daily strain on the office worker's skeletal system, and over time, can lead to dangerous medical issues. Your comfort is essential here. The success of the home-based entrepreneur hinges on working with the clearest head and producing deliverables that outshine more traditional competition. A thoughtfully prepared office environment, free of distractions, complete with the creature comforts of leather office chairs and matching visitor chairs, creates the calm and confident atmosphere you require to do your very best work.

The many perks of working from home are drawing more and more workers away from the highrise lifestyle every year. If you work from home, you know the joys of being your own boss, and being the boss means taking care of business. Take care of your clients and yourself by choosing office chairs that are a source of pride, not something to hide. You deserve it

Are You Sitting Comfortably?

Chair Office

We hope so but all the evidence seems to be the contrary! As work hours increase, reported back pain in the general population is also rising – so much that over 70% of us suffer from back pain at some point in our working lives (Source: ONS). But it doesn’t end there – without ergonomic and supporting seating systems we can develop long-term bad posture, repetitive strain injury, eye strain, carpul tunnel syndrome, increased stress, headaches and tension. It’s enough to send you back to bed – and to the doctor.

We address bad seating issues... We can increase productivity by contributing to a healthier, happier working environment and significantly reduce time lost to sickness amongst our workforce.
So how can we achieve this?

Firstly, and crucially, we need a chair that allows us to site in a position that offers the right support for our back, so we can achieve a well-supported and natural balanced position for our spine.

Secondly, we need to sit so that our pelvis is rotated slightly forward and our thighs are angled in a gentle downward direction, encouraging good blood flow to the feet, which should be flat to the floor, or perhaps on a well-adjusted footrest.

Next, we need to sit close to our desks and have our workspace intelligently arranged so that everything we need is within easy reach of both eye and hand. Computer monitors should be set so that the top of the screen is flat on to our eye line; computer keyboards should be placed parallel to and at the correct distance from the edge of the desk – About 10cm – so our fingertips rest comfortably on the keys. Your mouse-wrist should be supported and the mouse should be within easy reach, to avoid stretching for it or twisting at a damaging angle to reach it.

Arrange your work so that you are mostly looking straight ahead – Sit back in your chair and rest your upper body against the backrest.
